Week 1 | 02.02.12

Kick-off: Defining hopes and fears

Goal: Determine exhibition goals, audiences, and contexts (spaces).

In class we divided into small groups and defined the EOY show Goals, Potetential Pitfalls (concerning the show and the process, Who the Audiences are (as well as what they'll be looking for), and the Contexts through which the Show will be experienced.

Decisions!!!

Goals of the EOY (What "success" means):

1.  Inspirational (other inspired by, want to be part of)

2.  Transformed, unexpected "spaces"

3.  Multiple platforms for experiencing

4.  Participatory

Potential Pitfalls (concering the show):

1.  Work has no context (brief, project, designer)

2.  Get the word out sufficiently

3.  Not showing range of media

4.  Experience of the work not satisfying cuz you can't really

see or experience it

Potential Pitfalls (concering the process):

1.  Gathering of work

2.  Communicating with the other students

3.  Make sure the community has a voice in work selection

4.  Installation!!!

Audiences: What they'll be looking for / How they'll see it

1.  Potential Employers: Employees / Work needs to be clearly identified, visible (in the show and in media). best work presented, business cards available)

2. Family Members: "your" work, understanding of what it's about in the program and why $s / Work of individuals and projects identified and explained

3.  Students: Sense of community, pride, accomplishment / The show!

4.  Faculty: Same as students + a sense that the work is worth sharing / All the goals
